Below are a few stories from CPN members that demonstrate how we could help out. For the sake of privacy protection, we have disguised the names of persons and companies.
  • William
  • CPN member since 2002. Successful career move 2 years after joining CPN
  • Unlike most MBAs, William started his job search one year after he graduated from his MBA in US due to some family reasons. He was determined to return to China but found few good information and it seemed risky to return to China without an offers for someone who just had a kid.

So, he came to CPN. He found CPN was working with a leading global telecommunication company to recruit high quality managerial talents for its rotational leadership program in China. This was a wonderful opportunity! William applied in March through CPN, but soon found that there was no response from the company at all. His pre-school experience as a government official didn't seem to match the JD requirements for MNC experiences. In fact, CPN found out later that he was not on the interview shortlist by the company.

William didn't give up and contacted CPN from US. He explained his situation and we listened carefully about his story. During the conversation, we found he had rich experience with government type of organizations and had excellent people skills. His English was not a problem either. So, we concluded that he could be a great candidate to deal with the giant state-owned telecom operators such as China Mobile

Without delay, CPN presented William's case to the company and argued that telecom operators would play an increasing important role in China but they behave differently from MNCs, so someone like William would be perfect in dealing with the complexity and sensitivity of those monopolies. The company agreed to include him on the interview list.

William successfully passed the first round phone interviews two weeks after his application and met the company's China head in US for final interview in April. Within 48 hours of the interview, he got an offer and joined the company in August with his family relocated to China.
